Junior High Install IT Day
Installing computers at the Junior High School was more challenging than any building in the Install IT Day so far as they have many more classrooms. The volunteers for this day were up to the challenge! Please thank these people for their very hard work!

DPS Install IT Day
Over the course of the summer (2007), the DPS Technology Department will be working hard to install almost 600 new computers across the school district. Our goal is to install these computers by the time school starts, but budget limitations make it difficult to meet this goal. After some serious brainstorming, we have decided to ask the community for support for a “high tech” barn raising of sorts, we call it Install I.T. (Information Technology) Day. Here's how it works. In mid July, once we have the computers delivered to the buildings, we will hold an Install I.T. Day at each school building during which we will ask YOU to volunteer your time to help the school unpack, place, and connect new computers as well as breakdown the older machines. Here is the schedule:

During the Install I.T. Day each volunteer will be given a demonstration of how we'd like the process completed along with a checklist of the tasks to make it very easy to follow (you won't need to be a geek to help out!). Each volunteer will be asked to donate one day of their time (you will be able to pick the building when you are signing up). Lunch will be included (pizza). Please click here to sign up! Details will then be sent to volunteers via e-mail.
Please plan to join us for this very worthwhile event and help us have the latest technology available to your children when they return in the fall. As always, your participation is greatly appreciated! Please contact the DPS Technology Department with any questions about Install I.T. Day.

Welcome Back!
1) New instructional staff computers are at the Junior High, Herbison Woods and Schavey. Each machine is labeled with a Windows XP Yellow sticker. With some rooms the computers had been disassembled when we arrived, so we weren't certain where to place the equipment, if you need assistance setting up your computer please put in a help request and we'll add your room to the list. The Introduction to the Network document is available for Windows XP. Also, for information about the new computers, take a look at our New Computers story.
2) Keep in mind that GroupWise checks your Frequent Contacts list before it checks the Novell Address Book when you type in an address to send an e-mail. It may try to autocomplete from your old mailing lists in Frequent Contacts instead of the new ones in the Novell Address Book (meaning all the new folks will not get your mail). To be certain you get everyone a) Go into your Frequent Contacts list in your Address Book and delete any GroupWise lists, so the autocomplete will use the Novell Book instead or b) Don't use autocomplete for the e-mail you send to staff lists, click on the Address button and browse to the list you want to use.
3) If you changed your voicemail to a summer message, remember to make a new message for this school year.
4) If you have moved to a new building/room and have not filed an Add/Change form to let us know what your new information is, we will not yet have you set up correctly in numerous voice and data systems. Please check the forms and policies section of the technology web site for a copy of the form.
If you need our help with any technology needs, please start with our Help Request system which can be launched from the desktop icon of any computer on the network. You can also contact us through our Help Desk phone extension: 3590.
