Help PagesWe have been using Internet Explorer for web browsing at DeWitt Public Schools, however to support the Open Source movement and to offer an excellent alternative for browsing the web, the tech department is now supporting Mozilla Firefox.  Installation will begin soon on district computers, however if you are interested in trying it out at home now go to the Firefox website and download it!  For details on the advantages of Firefox, click Read More below.

Firefox has integrated pop up blocking, browsing of multiple windows through tabs and an integrated search engine box.  It also has RSS, which allows you to bookmark live sites.  To use the RSS feature on the main DPS web site, once you have Firefox loaded, look for the orange RSS graphic in the lower right hand corner of the web page, click and select Subscribe to RSS feed.  From the Create In drop down box choose Bookmarks Toolbar Folder and press OK.  You'll then have DeWitt Public Schools in your toolbar at the top of your web page, when you click on it you will see links to the most recent 10 stories from the DPS web site.  These links will update automatically whenever content is added to the DPS site!

For step-by-step directions on installing Firefox and using Live Bookmarks with RSS, check out this word document.
